SIEL Membership Policy

Who can become a member of SIEL?

SIEL welcomes all persons and entities interested in the field of international economic law and who are committed to SIEL goals and objectives.

Membership may be on either an individual or institutional basis, though in its formative period institutional membership information and applications should be directed to Founding Committee Co-Chairs Andrew Lang or Colin Picker. Individual membership is open to people of all nationalities over the age of 18.

The benefits of membership

The biggest benefit of membership is in being part of a large and active network of academics and practitioners with related interests in the field of international economic law.

SIEL Members will receive discounts on subscriptions to journals including the Journal of International Economic Law, World Trade Review, and Transnational Dispute Management. In addition, members will receive discount rates on all from Cambridge University Press, Cameron May publishers, and Oxford University Press. Details of these discounts will appear shortly in the menu on the left of this page - we are currently working out the technical details of administering them.

In addition, members will also receive discounted rates for SIEL meetings, activities and publications, as well as free access to the Members’ area of the Organization website (under construction, more details to follow). We expect also to negotiate special rates for SIEL members for meetings, publications and courses of similar institutions.

Of course, once the governance arrangements of SIEL are finalised and voted upon at our Inaugural Conferece, members will be able to participate freely in the governance of SIEL, in accordance with the constitution then agreed.

Duties of membership

As a member of SIEL, you will have to pay the membership dues according to the annual fee established by SIEL, as well as respect and abide by the rules, regulations and procedures established by the SIEL. Please note that no use of SIEL’s name, brand or any intellectual property may be used without previous authorization from the SIEL.
