General information for participants arriving by aeroplane
Taxi
Taxis in Geneva are plentiful and expensive. Please note that the approximate cost of getting to any of the hotels mentioned below is around CHF 30. A taxi is not recommended as a way to reach the Hotel Etap.
Public Transport
The Geneva International Airport now provides one way free bus/train ticket to the passengers coming into Geneva. This ticket could be obtained in the area from where one collects their checked baggage. The ticket machine is located right before the main exit (glass door exit) of the secured area. If this machine cannot be located then the ticket could be purchased separately outside the airport from one of the machines present in front of the bus stops or the train stop (downstairs). A ticket costs CHF3. The machines do not give change.
General information on local transport
Local transport is good. Most hotels can provide guests with a free transport pass for the duration of their stay. This is valid all around Geneva and for getting back to the airport. You need to request a pass from the reception of your hotel.

Description Hotel Moderne is very conveniently located in the heart of Geneva and is only few minutes walk from the Central Station also known as the Gare Cornavin. Please note that, as the hotel is located in one of the commercial places for nightlife in Geneva, it might not be suitable for some participants travelling alone at night. This should not be a problem, as there will be some 20 SIEL participants at this hotel.
Pre-reservation and cost the Hotel Modern has 20 rooms pre-reserved for the nights of July 15, 16th and 17th. The single room includes shower/WC/cable TV and telephone connection. The net room tariff is CHF 150 per night for a single which includes breakfast buffet, service, taxes and VAT. A double room is slightly more expensive, please specify that a double is required when booking.
Hotel Booking Procedure: In order to reserve a room at the hotel the participants must confirm their reservations individually quoting the reference number “CTEI/ Debnath , N° 42260”, at least 1 month before their arrival. At the time of booking the participants will be asked to provide their credit card details as a security against their reservation.
Direction from the Airport to Hotel Moderne (by Public Transport)
See note above for free public transport tickets from the airport.
To reach the Hotel Moderne, take bus 5 from the airport to reach the Gare Cornavin first. Buses can be found at the same level right after exiting the airport area (2 minutes walk from the airport exit to the stops). Bus 5 will take approximately 20 minutes to reach the Gare Cornavin stop.
Alternatively, the participants could take the train from the airport. Once the participants exit the main airport building, the trains are located at the lower most level of the building in front of which the bus stops are. All the trains departing from the Airport will come to Geneva Central Station (Gare Cornavin). It is the first train stop and the journey duration is approximately 8 minutes.
From theGare Cornavin, cross the road and start walking on Rue de Mont Blanc. While walking on Rue de Mont Blanc there would be a MacDonald and near that there would be the street Rue de Berne on the right hand side.
Directions from Hotel Moderne to the Graduate Institute
Perhaps the best way to get to the Graduate Institute from the hotel Modern is to walk (about 15 minutes, walk down to the lake and then along the lake). Otherwise, take tram 13, 15 from the Gare Cornavin and get off at Butini and walk for 5 minutes to reach the Graduate Institute buildings. One could also take Bus Number 1 from the Gare Cornavin to reach to Graduate Institute buildings and get off at the stop called Secheron which is 4 minute away from the Graduate Institute buildings.

Location Hotel Etap is located opposite the shopping centre Balexert, and is approximately 20 minutes from the heart of Geneva . It is only 8 minutes away from the Airport by bus (Number 10). It is approximately 30 minutes away from the Graduate Institute buildings. A taxi is not recommended for this short journey.
Pre-reservation The hotel Etap has 20 single rooms available for the nights of July 15th, 16th and 17th. The rooms are all equipped by a large bed and a bunk bed, a TV, shower and toilet. However, there is no telephone connection inside the room. The net room tariff is CHF 152.30 per room per night without breakfast and CHF 163.30 with continental breakfast buffet. The room tariff includes city tax.
Hotel Booking Procedure: In order to reserve a room at the hotel the participants must reserve a room individually by either telephone call/ email/ fax at least 1 month before their arrival. At the time of booking the participants will be asked to provide their credit card details as a security against their reservation.
Directions from the airport to Hotel Etap (by Public Transport):
A taxi is not recommended for this short journey. See note above for free public transport tickets from the airport.
To get to Hotel Etap from the airport, the participants need to take bus 10 and get off at the bus stop called Balexert. The hotel is across the road from the stop. Buses could be found at the same level right after exiting the airport area (2 minutes walk from the airport exit to the stops). It will take approximately 8 minutes to reach the Hotel from the Airport.
Directions from Hotel Etap to the Graduate Institute
To come to the Graduate Institute buildings, travel from take the Number 10 bus, which stops directly outside the hotel, and get off at the stop called 22 Cantons. From there, walk up 1 block to the Gare Cornavin and take tram 13 or 15 and get off at Butini and walk for 5 minutes to reach the Graduate Institute buildings. One could also take Bus Number 1 from the Gare Cornavin to reach to Graduate Institute buildings and get off at the stop called Secheron which is 5 minute walk from the Graduate Institute buildings. The journey takes just 20 minutes in total and is less complicated than it sounds.

Hotel Le Montbrilliant is located in the heart of Geneva at the main railway station, known as the Gare Cornavin. It is 10 minutes away from the Airport by train and approximately 20 minutes away by buses (number 5 and 10). It is also 10-15 minutes away from the HEI/WTO campus. To come to the HEI/WTO Campus, one would have to take tram 13, 15 from the Gare Cornavin and get off at Butini and walk for 5 minutes to reach the WTO/HEI Campus. One could also take Bus Number 1 from the Gare Cornavin to reach to HEI/WTO Campus and get off at the stop called Secheron which is 1 minute away from the HEI Campus and 4 minutes away from the WTO Campus.
Pre-reservation and cost The Hotel only has rooms for July 16th and 17th only. They have 10 standard single rooms (room tariff for these are CHF 175 per night) and 15 executive single rooms (room tariff for these are CHF 205 per night) for these two dates. The room tariffs include breakfast, services and taxes.

Direction from the Airport to Hotel Montbrillant (by Public Transport):
To come to Hotel Le Montbrilliant, participants should also take the train from the Airport. Once the participants exit the main airport building, the trains are located at the lower most level of the building in front of which the bus stops are. All the trains departing from the Airport will come to Geneva Central Station (Gare Cornavin). It is the first train stop and the journey duration is approximately 8 minutes. The hotel is at the back of the station.
