The international conference ‘Freedom Under Pressure’, is organised by the Faculty of Law of Ghent University on the occasion of the latter’s bicentennial. It seeks to gather scholars and practitioners from various legal disciplines to discuss key fundamental rights and freedoms under pressure in three distinct areas: (1) data protection and privacy, (2) freedom of movement in the EU, and; (3) property protection.
Panel topics include a.o.: “Use and abuse of international investment arbitration”, “Limits to international immunity from execution”, “Targeted financial sanctions as a foreign policy tool” and “Public policy limitations to patent rights”.
Legal scholars wishing to present a paper in the context of one of the conference (12) panels are warmly invited to submit an abstract of no more than 400 words to email@example.com. The deadline for abstracts is 30 April 2017. The deadline for submitting full papers is 15 September 2017.
